Shadows of The Future

moonlight

This week, shadows of things to be flit about amidst the silver light of Thursday night’s Full Moon.  These entrancing forms dance about, outlining the state of affairs we’re all moving toward.   Mercury’s retrograde station, lingering at the end of the week (Sunday, the 6th), testifies that these forms, though enchanting and more than a little bit true, will need to undergo revision and reality checks aplenty before entering fully into the real.

The visions inspired are of the great wall of the present, miles high amidst the arid steppes of the real, in the midst of being blasted open, allowing unknown futures in.  This dynamic springs from the cycle of Saturn-Uranus oppositions we’re only half way through.  The two titanic energies are set for another direct collision in September, just 2 weeks away.   The Full Moon, usually the height of the lunar cycle, is not the peak of the action, but another note struck in month whose song would shake the walls of Jericho.  For ’scopes and information on the Saturn-Uranus oppositions, check out The Mythology of the Present.

Mind the Gaps

Between the cracks in the wall we see Mercury and Venus, whose current positions resonate strongly with the near future.  Mercury, almost retrograde, spans the degrees that Saturn will explore this Fall.  The new balances dreamed  will be tested and then cemented by slow moving Saturn.  As Venus walks the gilded runways of Leo, the image she bestrides the psychic terrain that Mars will explore throughout his upcoming retrograde over the coming Fall, Winter and Spring.  The blooms of confidence and self awareness that spring up around Venus’ feet will be put to task when Mars enters enters the fray later in the year.  For more on the archetypal nature of Venus in Leo, consider perusing Lady of Flame.

Mars, now in Cancer, does not connect us directly to the future, but instead brings up past.  Mars’ movement through Cancer ignites patterns of insecurity and powerlessness, shining an angry red light on them.  The lord of war rouses us to break the confining  shell of our comfort zone, and rise to meet the challenges of the future head on.  For more on the nature of Mars in Cancer, read Heart of the Werewolf.

Mercury Retrograde

After weeks creeping through the shadow, Mercury finally turns retrograde this week.  Although the retrograde station does not occur until Sunday, the effects echo throughout the week.  As with every Merc retro, expect both verbal and electronic communications to be extra..interesting.

Mercury’s turn retro in Libra sounds a call to balance and accord within divers affairs.  However, before balance can be externalized, there must first be equilibrium with the mind.   A Mercury retrograde, though it may call for numerous conversations and communications, is also a call for internal silence.  Finding the quiet space between yes, no, this and that is key for making smart decisions in the weeks to come.  Take this time edit ideas attempting to burst into reality.  Walk with Mercury as the messenger moves backward through Libra, re-enters Virgo and conjoins Saturn, the master of the real.  For more on the archetypal quality of Mercury in Libra, check out The Lawyer and the Loser.

Full Moon

The Full Moon on Thursday night is the annual opposition of the Sun in Virgo and the Moon in Pisces.  This year it straddles another opposition, that of Saturn in Virgo and Uranus in Pisces, activating the tension between realism and innovation in both the micro- and macro- cosms.  With the Sun in Saturn’s corner, the question is one posed is how experimental lightning we can conduct without blowing our creation apart.  How much of the dream can you sneak into the real- the mad scientist’s challenge.

For those determined to keep to stick by a disintegrating system, there are ill tidings indeed.  Whether it is a worn out relationship, job, living place or sense of self, its time to let in the lightning.  Its time to reprogram what’s worn out, get that digital upgrade for your analog systems.  If you’re not willing to chuck what clearly isn’t working, then be prepared to purchase the piece of shit you’ve been protecting.  You too can be the proud of owner of a broken life.  Don’t worry, you won’t be lonely.  The good lord’s concession to the mediocre is that he makes sure they have plenty of company.

Horoscopes:

Aug. 31st-Sept. 6th

Note on Horoscopes: 12 Fold horoscopes are a way to assess the general condition of the splayed rays of the zodiac. Although not without value, they are a blunt tool, and can only describe the archetypal activity in each power-zone. In order to sharpen the accuracy of the horoscopes, read your Sun Sign if you were born in the day-time, and read your Moon Sign if you were born at night. Reading the Sign in which the Ascendant is placed is also advised.
